Wilmington Park Swim Team

An eligible swimmer shall be capable of entering the water at one end of the pool and swimming 25 meters (in any form) to the opposite end of the pool without significant touching of the sides of the pool, bottom of the pool, or the lane lines. A Swim Test will be administered to each new swimmer during the first week of practice to ensure that the swimmer meets this criteria. The Wilmington Park Swim Team is a competition team. All swimmers will be expected to participate in league sponsored swim meets. "Practice-Only" swimmers will not be allowed!

Swimmers are expected to attend as many practices as possible throughout the week. Our goal is for each swimmer to attend at least five practices per week. This assumes four practices through the week plus Saturday mornings. Once summer arrives we will offer both morning and afternoon practice sessions on weekdays.  See the "Practices" tab for more information.

Swimmers are expected to be ready to swim five minutes before their practice session starts. This includes having cap and goggles on and ready to jump in the water. Assistant Coaches and Junior Coaches will be available to help our younger swimmers with caps and goggles. 

Swimmers are expected to be respectful while another practice group session is underway.  This includes not distracting the coaching staff or engaging with those in the water.

If you or your swimmer have questions for the coaching staff, please save these until after practice is completed. Do not interrupt the coaches during the practice. It is critical that our staff keep their eyes and attention on the water for safety and instruction. Coaches will make themselves available after practice.

Per league rules, swimmers must participate in at least 2 of the 4 dual meets to be eligible for Rising Star/City Meet. Please plan now so that you are able to attend as many meets as possible. Even if you make the qualifying time, your attendance at the 2 dual meets is still required.
